Academics
Block Scheduling
The dawn of the 2012-13 school year brought with it a change in Trinity’s daily schedule. Following an exhaustive five-year study, the school embarked on the year employing a more collegiate class block schedule that perfectly fits the needs of a 21st century high school student.
When comparing our student’s academic success before and after block scheduling the results are resounding.
Trinity’s STEM Program
STEM. Science. Technology. Engineering. Math. Four concepts that form the foundation for a curriculum that is sweeping across high school classrooms and college campuses. Within the walls of Trinity, students can start taking STEM classes their VERY FIRST YEAR. Freshman biology and mathematics courses emphasize project-based learning. In addition, CAD, or Computer Aided Design, is now a freshman elective where first-year Rocks can design and build models for printing and manufacturing in the lab.
The College Experience
Annually, more than 97 percent of Trinity graduates go on to college. Trinity has two college counselors who work exclusively with students and parents on the college application process.
Students are encouraged to visit colleges during their junior and senior years. In addition, students prepare systematically for standardized testing throughout their four years with juniors participating in a job shadow experience that includes a research project.
Programs of Study
By ensuring that every student’s academic strengths and challenges are being met, our four programs of study are a big part of the overall academic enrichment process here at Trinity. Each program features a curriculum that is adapted by pace and depth appropriate to its students.
Trinity’s Math Sequence
A student’s mathematics trajectory is based on the following:
- Placement Test Scores
- Algebra I Exam
- Recommendation of teacher
Students who want to be placed beyond Algebra I must pass an exam given at Trinity in late spring. Incoming students who have studied beyond Algebra I are considered on an individual basis.
Bring Your Own Device Policy
As the world of technology evolves, so does Trinity. Through our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, we’ve learned what works best for students in classrooms.
International Travel
Trinity offers numerous opportunities for students to broaden their horizons by learning while traveling both internationally and domestically. These travel programs include tourism-style trips, community service trips, and learn-by-doing trips.
